Early Childhood Consultation Network (ECCN)

Co-Chairs: John Roope, Laura Hansen, Laurie Kabb and and Phyllis Nickel

A retreat with the chairs and the ECC leadership was held in May and next steps for the Network were planned.

Current Activities:

  • Oversight of the Reflective Learning Groups
  • Planning of the 5th Annual Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Retreat
  • Creation of a framework for the development of a consultant

Early Childhood Family Engagement Workgroup (ECFE)

  • The ECFE Workgroup completed three regional “conversations” in the spring with early childhood providers and with caregivers. These included a café for providers and a café for caregivers in each of the three areas. A white paper will be written based on the conclusions from the cafes, with the intent of forming a statewide consensus on ideal family-provider collaboration

Professional Development and Training ad hoc:

  • The ad hoc group  is continuing their conversations about professional development with early childhood providers and consultants. In the first meeting, the work group reviewed the 3 goals from the ECC strategic plan that related to professional development. Some next steps were discussed, that include:

    • Creating a training calendar that crosses the Early Childhood systems

    • Exploring how social-emotional screeners are presented to providers, how they are used and what happens after the screening occurs, in order to inform training needs
