Guidelines for School-Community Partnerships
Addressing the Unmet Mental Health Needs of School Age Children

The Guidelines for School-Community Partnerships is the result of a two-year effort on the part of the ICMHP’s School Age Committee. It is intended to be an important resource for helping implement a comprehensive, coordinated children’s mental health system comprised of prevention, early intervention and treatment programs and services for children ages birth to eighteen. Local and statewide cross system collaborations and shared ownership for the mental health and social and emotional development of school-age children are crucial to reaching this goal. The Guidelines identifies key development steps to support a sustainable structure wherein all members share in the research, design, implementation and evaluation of efforts undertaken collectively to assure the academic success and good mental health of school age children and youth.
