Models for Change MacArthur Family Engagement Project

Strategic Plan Implementation in Action

  • Increasing the capacity of child-serving systems to address children’s mental health through the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Project;  Healthy Families Illinois/Parents Too Soon Mental Health Consultation Project, and the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Reflective Learning Groups.
  • Promoting parent/caregiver leadership and support in the children’s mental health system through the Family Leadership Project.
  • Enhancing children’s school readiness and ability to achieve academic success through implementation of the Illinois Social and Emotional Learning Standards Professional Development Project.
  • Strengthen the capacity of school districts to identify and meet the mental health needs of students through the School Mental Health Supports Grants program.
  • Raising awareness about the importance of children’s mental health and reducing the stigma of mental illness through the implementation of a public awareness campaign called "Say It Out Loud!"
  • Providing psychiatric phone consultation to primary care providers who serve children enrolled in Medicaid through Illinois DocAssist, a psychiatric phone consultation initiative.
  • Educating and empowering family members to be effective advocates for youth in the juvenile justice system throughout Illinois through the Mental Health/Juvenile Justice Network Family Engagement Project, funded by the MacArthur Foundation.
