This Work Group was created in November 2005 as recommended in the Illinois Children’s Mental Health Partnership’s (ICMHP) June 2005 Report to the Governor. The Work Group’s scope is to examine children’s residential mental health treatment services funded by the State of Illinois, with a primary focus on improving services for youth in residential treatment, youth at risk of such a placement or youth returning to the community after treatment. Group membership includes representative stakeholders involved in residential treatment. These include: parents of youth in treatment, residential treatment providers, state agencies that assign and/or fund youth in treatment, community agencies assisting families with residential treatment and partnership leaders.
Accomplishments:
The Residential Treatment Work Group completed a thorough report and set of recommendations for the improvement of the residential treatment system in Illinois.
The Work Group is working on implementation of the recommendations.
The Work Group is partnering with the DCFS Provider Database to include detailed information on all Illinois residential treatment providers so that providers and parents can make informed decisions about which facility best meets the need of each child.
