Treatment Workgroup

Framework for Updated Plan

The plan will be developed through four workgroups. The workgroups are designed to address the unique needs that a child and their family face at different points of time on a mental health and wellness continuum and across systems. Their charge is as follows:

  • Create a series of cross-sector and interagency recommendations for how the State of Illinois can improve mental health and wellbeing for children and their families across the entire state. Each workgroup will incorporate the following themes in their recommendations: 1) diversity, equity, and inclusion 2) trauma 3) development and life course; 4) and needs in the public and private systems.

Treatment is tasked with developing recommendations focused on addressing the needs of children and their families with targeted interventions to address identified mental health concerns in the least restrictive setting.

Treatment Areas of Action

1. In Illinois, we will provide quality training to all child-serving professionals on mental health and wellness for children, their families, and their communities with a special emphasis on identifying, assessing, accessing, and integrating interventions and supports.

2. In Illinois, we will create a fully staffed, diverse and culturally representative, and quality mental health treatment workforce that is integrated with all child-serving systems and accessible in all regions of our state.

3. In Illinois, we will develop and sustain evidence-based and quality mental health interventions and supports across the continuum of mental health service delivery, including alternative supports such as peer, natural, and paraprofessional.
